Polk a- Dot

There is nothing like the good old Polka Dot print.  I was so excited when I found this brown and pink fabric in my local fabric store; it has a great weight.
Originally, I thought I would make a light spring jacket, but when I saw the outcome of the McCalls 6896 here, I thought this fabric will make a great top.  So off I went to my sewing machine to see what will come of this fabric. I think I was a bit over confident with my sewing, as I sewed the invisible zipper to the front pieces. I suppose that I could have refashioned this top to have an open front but then I thought, that would be a disaster. I had to rip everything out and start all over again; I was not defeated. I went back to the drawing board and started again.  Nonetheless, after much sweat, I completed this top (again).  I still love the fit, and I am head over heels for the print.  Some might call this a transitional top because I could wear it in the Winter, but I can sport it in the Spring, too.
Now, about the look. I am feeling pretty casual for a Monday! So I paired my new "favourite" top with a pair of my old "favourite" jeans and my oxford lace up shoes.

Next project...pants!

  1. That top is great! I love it in this print, and your look is on point...casual cool!!! I have had those days of mishaps, and I would have been tempted, like you, to redesign and wear the zipper in the front...after all, as sewist, we have carte blanche to change things!! Great job!
