DIY Burda 6847 Fall Jacket

Fall is definitely in the air here.  The leaves are turning the beautiful colours of autumn and the once precious flowers are withering away.
I have started planning my Fall/Winter wardrobe.  I have planned two outwear pieces that I want to sew.  If winter is anything like the last winter we had, I need a heavy winter coat.  For Fall, I sewed this Burda 6847 jacket, which I absolutely LOVE!!!  I will most certainly be sewing this jacket a few more times in various fabrics.  See below for my full review for this pattern. 

Pattern Review: BURDA 6847

Pattern Description: 
Sporty jacket with two way zipper and double lined hood.

Pattern Sizing:
I cut a size 12

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looked exactly like the drawing.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The pattern was easy to put together, I read the instructions for the purpose of this review.  The instructions were easy to follow and clear.  There were not a lot of steps to put this project together.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE this pattern.  It was so easy to put together.  I really like the fit of the jacket and the various options for styles--with hood or hood-less.

Fabric Used:
I used a quilted nylon material.  The wrong side of the fabric is lined with a black fleece fabric.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made one alterations to this pattern, shortening the overall torso length by approximately 4".

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
ABSOLUTELY!  I can't wait to sew this pattern again.  I think I may look at making it out of a knit.  It would be perfect for a light spring jacket made out of a ponte de roma knit or a neoprene fabric would be cool too.

Conclusion:

This pattern is an easy pattern for most beginners.  It took me about 4 hours from start to finish.  I really like the two-way zipper, it definitely makes a jacket this length more manageable.
